Hindustan Lever is a scoundrel. Their advertisement about pH is shallow and mercenary - not public spirited as one may assume at first glance. They are guilty of lowering the Quality of their Toilet Soaps. They cannot provide you the pH paper but would supply a 'Fairness Meter' with their Fair & Lovely, another questionable value product

| The pH paper just indicates the pH
- level of acidity or alkalanity of a product - nothing more, nothing less. It is a routine product of use in Chemistry
/ chemical laboratories. Water is neutral and its pH is taken to be standard at 7. Level 1 to 7 indicates acidity. Level 1 is very acidic. The value 7.01 to 14 means that a product is alkaline. 14 means very alkaline. pH is checked normally with 1% solution. pH value between 6 to 7 means that a product is slightly acidic and pH value between 7 to 8 means, that it is slightly alkaline. |

Dove Bathing Bar - Advertisement in
DD sports Channel on 16th November, 2005: The advertisement comes in Laughter Challenge and some other programs on TV as of
November 25, 2006 Scoundrel posing as a honest Saint ! Lever's advertisement in TV: 'The Model comes to know about pH paper and informs the public that if the paper turns blue on a soap / bathing bar, it is 'Harsh' for the skin. It only indicates the level of alkalinity and not harshness. They are scaring the public with a questionable, irrelevant test for safety. |

If they really meant what they say on TV, their licenses and Sales should / can be cancelled for this self confession of guilt. They are perhaps the largest seller of non neutral soaps and bars in India |

Lever's Products: Not all will pass the pH test. Whom are they fooling ? You ! Discard them Bathing bars and Soaps that they make: Lifebuoy, Lux, Hamam, Dove, Rexona. Shampoos: Clinic plus, Sunsilk, Ayush, and New Organics Detergents: Rin, Wheel, Vim, Surf and others I do not have to buy all their products to test. I tested Rin and Vim and stopped their use at my home |

For scarring / misleading the Public with pH paper, Hindustan Unilever should be punished
Blood is not neutral. Is it harsh ?
The body maintains the pH of the blood between 7.35 to 7.45 as per one Medical Book

The
pH value of Rin and Vim is 8.5. The pH paper I used, is
specific for the range 6.5 to 9.0 and the colour will be distinct for every 0.5 variation in
pH. The check was done in February / March 2007. These
pH papers are made for Laboratory / testing needs by a Company / division
of Glaxo Laboratories, India. [ Allenbury Laboratories / division ] Vim is a vessel cleaner and normally used by Ladies at Home. Can their hands be spoiled ? If Ladies loose their soft touch due to Rin or Vim, think of the consequences. Nauseating Cheapness / intentions are perverse: If this company wants you to assume that they are concerned about your face and are guiding you with useful background science, should they not show the same concern for your hands ? why sell RIN and VIM with pH of about 8.5 ? They are confessing in a way that they are third rate hypocrites. I wish some consumer group takes them to Court with this confession. They are admitting that they harm the public health. Should they not improve these products first, before posturing as a well wisher of our faces and waste further money on their Dove ? Lever is not bothered about the safety of the Ladies Hands. Their concern for skin is shallow |

Here is the Proof for their lie in print Business World 19-5-93 to 1-6-93: page 57 'Cleaning up the Competition' "DOVE is being marketed as an Alkaline Substance Free Soap with one fourth Moisturiser for highly sensitive skin. Levers even arranged a live pH test to demonstrate its Non alkaline nature. The test showed that Soaps like Camey, Godrej’s Evita, Johnson & Johnson’s and even Lever’ own Pears had high alkaline content". In my opinion, the demonstration was done to discredit perhaps 'Camey' of P & G. Lever and P & G compete with one another in 100 plus countries. Unfortunately it backfired. The test was done for personal benefit even then and not for public safety The improvement in 12 years !!: Dove is a bathing bar. It is not a Soap |
