Can we be fooled ?
     
Can advertisers misguide us ?   Yes. It happens routinely throughout our lives. We accept that fact, gain experience and maturity

Can advertisers misguide us ? Yes. Sigmund Freud also acted as Marketing Consultant. Advertisers employ all available means to get the sales and pinch our purses - and a bit more too

Despite my 2 post graduate qualifications, I was fooled in haircare matters till age 48. What I have learnt after that, is put to use in these pages in dissecting many baseless and spurious claims

 

 

A Lie, repeatedly told, sounds like the Truth  - awake

     
Claims   This is the basic premise for some acts of Politicians, Advertisers and Religious Fundamentalists. Most acts are never questioned. Public pays
     
sermons   The Supreme Court of India had ruled that  "the object is to bring honesty and truth in the relationship between the manufacturer and the consumer" and  "if  the general impression conveyed is false, the most punctilious and scrupulous accuracy in immaterial minutiae will not render the representations true. This is often violated and nobody punished in India for the last 50 years
     
Reality   Duping the Customer is routine and unchecked. You have to be on your guard.

 

 
How to spot distortions / pause before for rash hair product purchase
     
antidandruff shampoos   Let us take Shampoo claims. Several companies make Shampoos. Some companies make 3-4 brands of shampoo, priced, packed and promoted differently. Just try to recall some of them. Then you would find, that if one claims benefit x, another one shouts 1.5 x and so one. One is bluffing outright without any basis or all are bluffing would be a shocking realisation.  Or take ingredient xxx that Company A has painstakingly discovered and perfected and repacks a brand with a new claim. Within 3 months, you can find company B and C, putting active xxx and proactive xxx in their shampoos and double the benefits of Company A's shampoo.

The fooling goes on shamelessly. You can spot the shady products and dubious claims. I did not do that between 1970 and 1990 and paid the price - my hair. When I analyzed the past in late 1990 for over 9 months, it helped me to think of a novel way - and invent Swapna
