Oil, which is despised and decried unknowingly by many, is however used in different percentages in fancy, perfumed and attractive packages for the protection of Skin.

This page explains that with some routine, model formulations. Oil is needed for the hair also is elementary deduction - hair roots are inside the skin

As Beauty is only skin deep, as per proverb as well as Science, it does not hurt to know some scientific details / Chemistry behind some of the hyped beauty aids

Who do the above formulations say ?
	1. There is only water and Oil in all the formulations for the preservation of skin. You can check with any skin ointments of a Pharmaceutical company. It will contain oil / petroleum jelly as the base.  2. Emulsion is oil dispersed in water or water in dispersed in oil. To do that, as they are not mixable without an extra aid, an alkali / emulsifying agent / surfactant is used 3. In each formulation, the percentage can be varied in the way, a seller wants. There is no standard. 4. What chemical, perfume or any other chemical to use is discretionary. For example, Lanolin / wool wax like Aspirin, will be praised for 20 years, discarded for 20 years, resurface again for 20 years and then decline too. Safety of the chemical is a reasonable assumption and not an absolute proven certainty. Read the fiasco of VIO xx, a medical prescription product, elsewhere in the site. Vitamin B 6 is toxic if taken in excess !

1. The First / celebrated Beauty Queen of History is Cleopatra. She was not from Europe or America but Egypt. So any skin / hair maintenance, Black and the Brown had a historical advantage. The West got an edge is an endless, self proclaimed, high blown nonsense

2  Why Mineral Oil is used / kerosene like light high boiling Petroleum distillate is used instead of Vegetable Oils in skin preparations ? I did not come across any deducted / researched advantage  except being cheaper and more penetrative because of their lower specific gravity.

3. Vegetable Oils can be simplied as Glycerated Fatty Acids [ glycerol + fatty acid ]. Coconut Oil contains Myristic, Lauric, Stearic and Palmitic Acids. Instead of Coconut Oil, Iso Myristic Acid was used in 1960 in hair preparations and then discarded by 1990. Why the use and abandonment ? No basis ! They have bluffed others in the World with their self serving loud noises

4. Before Sushmita Sen in 1991/92, India's Beauty Queen was Reita Fiera in 1957 or 67. After 1992, India has had 6 or 7 top 3 Miss Beauty / Miss Universe candidates.

Why ? How suddenly India produced so many Beauty Queens ?

All these shows are heavily paid by the top Personal care companies of the World through multivarious means. To get their products instant publicity and rake profits, awarding 'beauty queens' is an economical, sure fire, publicity medium.

5. Power Corrupts. Absolute Power corrupts absolutely. Enron died. They will stoop to low levels, if it pays.
 
 

Ask some inconvenient questions and review the above again ?
	a] Why Mineral Oil is preferred over Vegetable Oil ? There is no explanation for meaningful benefit that I could find anywhere.  Mineral Oil / Petroleum Jelly is cheaper in price compared to Vegetable Oil - greed for a few paises.
