Male pattern alopecia / MPB,  Hereditary Baldness  or Androgenic Alopecia all mean the same thing
Medical / Allopathy		Know the Hurdle in Allopathy: Allopathy / Medical position / Medical Research " Male Pattern Alopecia is a progressive form of Alopecia (commonly inherited). It progresses symmetrically at certain specific sites on the Scalp. Eventually it causes complete Scalp Hair loss in some patients and mostly with Men. It has to be categorically stated that currently there is no Medical Treatment for Male Pattern Alopecia" Roxburgh's  'Common Skin Diseases',  16th Edition: Editor E. Marks: Published in 1993 by Chapman Hall Medical Publication.    Page 272: Similar wordings were there in the 17th Edition This is a Standard Dermatological Text Book meant for Medical Students / profession in England. The quoted passage is from the 16th edition of the book. On Hereditary Baldness, Allopathy as well as other medical therapy systems, hold nearly similar views.

Heredity is not the insurmountable factor Hair Loss
hair invention		Heredity was the assessed cause for my hairloss in 1969. The same hereditary blood had been in circulation for 23 more years and yet, I got new hair with Swapna in 1991, at age 48 I get some new hair even at 66 plus.   In early June 2010, I got it confirmed that I have 2mm thick, black hair band on both sides. Wherefrom came the Black Colour ?

 

Water need not be a factor for Hairloss in general
		In 1967, water at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, used to be hard - it was so in 1996 also. The Water taps will all be coated with hard salt deposits The campus Doctor told me in 1967 that my excessive hair loss is due to hard water of the Campus / Ahmedabad. [ excess insoluble Calcium salts ]The same hard water of Ahmedabad has been used by me for 17 years, after 1974. Swapna was born in 1991. I am settled in Ahmedabad since 1977. I have now spent 32 years here and lived with the hard water. And a major difference is that even at 66, I do get some new hair, here and there Ganges Water / 1964-66:  I did my M.Sc in Banaras Hindu University. It used to be soft water. Prior to 1964, I grew up with the soft water of Cauveri. I had Bombay's unfiltered water in 66-67

 

Other Major Medical Therapies
No delaying mechanism		There are 20 plus Major Medical Therapies in the World. Every therapy has some plus points and some minus points because many are earlier to Allopathy, which is less than 200 years old Some other Therapies have been in vogue in different parts of the World for more Centuries or Millenniums. And many do not have any simple, preventive aid to baldness Amongst them, Allopathy is assumed to be most modern and well developed therapy in the World. And it does not even have a mechanism to delay the balding process. Heredity or otherwise, one does not like to start balding before 25 and turn totally bald by 35

 

Historical Evidences
Egypt		Egyptian civilisation is over 5000 years old. Bald persons were treated as persons with 'incurable disease'. They had to cover themselves / fully behind veiled dress so that others do not catch the disease. They were not allowed near children
Aristotle		'Only way to avoid baldness is to choose your parents or become an enunch'. Greek had no clue either in 3rd BC or now.
Chankya		The great Chankya was bald. India had Ayurveda / natural herbs as the major medical therapy

 

Caution - Medical Shams
Hormone Therapy		In 1966, Statesmen newspaper, India, published a report that 'Hormone Therapy' is near perfection and public need not fear about hereditary baldness within a year or two. I wrote to Statemen then and my letter got published. But I got no answer Hormone Therapy, a loud mouthed medical break through, was not even whispered in 1969  - when I started earning and felt desperate for a cure
UV Therapy		This was another money making exercise around 1972 or so. It was a failure. I asked a friend of mine in 1994, [ known to me from 1978, younger than me 10 years but more bald even in 1978] as to what he did to delay / avoid baldness. [ His career started in Medical Industry and even now, he is in Medicine field only ] He replied to me that he attempted UV Therapy under Medical Advice. And the benefit - the left over hair, fell fast and he became totally bald by 1975.
Others		Please refer to Compare pages from sitemap 1 to know about my opinion of Propecia and Minoxidil. I went through several medical books, magazines besides books in other fields in the local British Council Library between 1993 to 1998. There was nothing much. There is / was hardly much research if one can form an opinion from Nature, Exocet and other British medical journals. In 6 years, I did not find any article. There was only one recruitment advertisement. [I was not a issue by issue reader. I may have missed some]

 

Care
Know the basics		Only inference one can make from the above details is that there is not yet any simple, proven remedy or delaying mechanism for baldness. A person, fearing / suspecting / expecting the onset of hereditary baldness in 2011, should know the available medical facts from Tips of the Top and take deligent care of the hair from 2009 and think not of undue or even limited liberty in 2009.
