Female Alopecia |
Swapna is the same for males, females and youngsters. Kindly refer to hairloss control page. This page is only about my views on the unwanted scare created about Female Alopecia. If you are a mother, refer jnj baby oil
Female Alopecia is not a Medically established fact and is irrelevant to the majority.
There was not much mention of Female Alopecia in the Dermatological Books that I referred till 1998. But it gets attention in the Internet, which is unfortunate
Female alopecia - unscientific in my view
Females have only 'x' Chromosomes. The male can give either ' x ' or the ' y ' chromosomes.
The combination 'X' of the mother and 'y' from the father means 'xy', a male child. Combination of 'x' from the female with the 'x' chromosomes from the male, leads to a female child.
[ general information: Gender of the child is determined by the male / father, as you can note from the above ]
The combination of the chromosomes is responsible for birth and the hereditary traits. Male Pattern Alopecia, Androgenic Alopecia and hereditary baldness mean one and the same thing.
So, female alopecia should mean that the baldness is hereditary. And the 'x' Chromosomes have come from the male / father only. If we accept for a minute this female alopecia as a 'scientific / medical phenomena, as the X chromosomes from the male / father, then there should be nearly as many bald females as males on Earth.
Historical facts of last 5000 years does not support any link between X chromosomes and 'female pattern alopecia'
Important Note - Common Sense Plus
You do not have to know Medicine or Cosmetology but only simple common sense and clear vision. Look around you.
Do we come across equal number of bald and semi bald women, like men, on the streets ? There are not many bald women around less. The above should give you emotional confidence.
If a female is facing very excessive hair loss / nearing baldness, it just could not be 'female alopecia'. It could just be due to chemicals in perming, dyes and such other fancy products. Please refer to your Doctor
Hair retention power of Women / Females
It is a proven unchallengeable fact that the natural hair retention capacity of women is more compared to men. Women overlook it
Medical Research does not know the reason for this inborn ability of females.
This inherent strength is frittered away by many, due to needless flogging of the dead outside hair, in the name of fashion and counter productive haircare methods. It is sad that the medical fraternity and Consumer Rights groups have chosen to be mute silent witnesses - to atrocious claims all around
Look at the old lady in the opening page. Her gain and growth are remarkable. I realised it only in 1995 when I looked at the comparative photographs. [ I was blind / partly blind in one eye after another, due to cataract, between Sep 1992 to June 1995 ]
My study of Dermatology - some more points
1] I did not come across any Research Study linking heredity and pattern alopecia amongst females in my 6 years of study of Dermatological books/magazines. Coining a new word to ward off an unexplainable disconcerting feature is an easy option that many shamelessly indulge in.
Heredity, my eye West German trained eye specialist shouted promptly, when I asked him the reason for my Cataract in the left eye on the eve of my operation, in 1993. I forthwith cornered him with the fact that neither my father nor my elder brother had Cataract. He then tried to placate me with possible other causes. Was there any point in listening to him ? No. There is no clear cut answer or factor in most cases should have been his first and only answer. Refer awake
2] Hirsutism
"Hirsutism is the growth of Terminal / Normal hair amongst Females in part or all along the lines of the Male Sexual pattern. The factors analysed / discussed are Genetic Factors, psychiatric factors, Bio chemical aspects, Racial and idiopathic etc".
In Bio Chemical aspects, the Research by Ismail et al in 1973 is that " out of 35 Hirsutism subjects, no specific cause for Hirsutism has been discovered in 29 of the patients "
The specific cause is unknown in 29 out of the 35 patients. For details, one can refer to the " Text Book of Dermatology, Vol. 3, 4th Edition ; Refer Bibliography. I hardly found any mention of further Research in books published in the 90's. This is to indicate the progress of research.
Too much is still unknown, either for loss or for unwanted growth
There are hundred thousand products and excuses to pinch your money. That is the harsh fact
Our Research - Heredity irrelevant for Females
In all the 19 years since Swapna's invention, only 2 females reported 'heredity' as a factor for hairloss - not because they had the conviction but it was an easy, handy excuse, acceptable to others. One case is in the women's hairloss page. 'Heredity' went away with Swapna. The other one was irrelevant as her 3 other sisters, whom I know from birth, have no hereditary hairloss problem
